Preheat oven to 500 degrees.
Take Roast (that has been set out to room temperature and patted dry) and shake salt and Montreal steak seasoning, being sure to cover all sides.
Rub a mixture of softened butter and paprika over entire roast.
Place in a roasting pan bone down or fat side up (if boneless) then place fresh minced garlic on top.
Cook on 500 for 30 minutes, then turn oven off leaving the roast in oven. BE SURE TO NOT OPEN OVEN DOOR FOR THE NEXT 2 HRS.
Cook to temperature of 129 degrees.
Remove from oven and let rest for 10 minutes.
Slice the prime rib roast across the grain.
